Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This privacy policy describes how Drift ("we", "us") handles your information when you use beliefdrift.com and our web application. We've tried to write this plainly. If anything is unclear, email us at beliefdrift@gmail.com.
The short version
Drift is designed so that your sessions stay on your device. Everything you create — uploads, answers, reports — lives in your browser's localStorage and never reaches a Drift-owned database. For AI processing, your content is sent to a third-party model provider (Google or Anthropic, depending on which tier you use) and is not retained by Drift after the call returns.
What we collect
Information stored in your browser only
Everything you create in Drift — uploaded writing, interview answers, drift reports, reflections, folder names, tags — is saved in your browser's localStorage. We cannot access this data. If you clear your browser data, it is permanently gone.
Information sent to AI model providers
When Drift performs analysis or runs an interview, your content must be transmitted to a large-language-model provider for processing. Which provider depends on the tier you're using:
- Free trial — your content is forwarded by our Vercel serverless function to Google's Gemini API. We do not log or store the body of these requests on our servers. Google's Gemini privacy policy applies: ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms.
- Bring-your-own Claude key — your content goes directly from your browser to Anthropic's Claude API; our servers never see it. Anthropic's policy applies: anthropic.com/legal/privacy. By default, Anthropic does not use API content to train their models.
- Bring-your-own Gemini key — your content goes directly from your browser to Google's Gemini API; our servers never see it.
Trial usage metadata
To prevent abuse of the free trial, our serverless function temporarily stores your IP address in memory (not on disk) to enforce a rate limit of 10 requests per hour per IP. This data is automatically discarded when the function restarts and is never associated with the body of your messages.
Information we receive when you visit beliefdrift.com
Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) receives basic information when you load a page: your IP address, browser type, referring page. This is standard server log data, retained briefly for security and performance, and not linked to any user account.
Information you give us voluntarily
If you join our waitlist by submitting your email, we store that email (via Formspree) so we can notify you when paid features launch. We will not share or sell your email address. You can request deletion anytime.
What we don't do
- We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other cookie-based behavioural tracker (we use Plausible Analytics for aggregate visitor counts only — no cookies, no personal data)
- We don't sell your data to anyone, ever
- We don't read your drift reports, sessions, or any personal content you create
- We don't build profiles of users for advertising
- We don't store payment information directly — that's handled by Stripe when paid features launch

- Anthropic — processes your content via the Claude API if you bring your own Claude key. Privacy policy

Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data: Everything is already in your browser — export it from Settings as JSON anytime.
- Delete your data: Use Settings → Clear all data, or clear your browser storage.
- Delete your waitlist email: Email beliefdrift@gmail.com with subject "Delete my email".
- Object to processing: Don't use the service. There is no account to delete.
Children
Drift is not directed to children under 16. If you believe a child has used Drift and you want their data removed, contact us.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how Drift handles your data, we'll update this page and announce it on the landing page. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision.
