Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of beliefdrift.com and the Drift web application. By using Drift, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. What Drift is

Drift is a self-reflection tool that uses large-language-model APIs (Google's Gemini for the free trial; Anthropic's Claude when you bring your own key) to analyse your personal writing, interview you about your present beliefs, and generate a comparative report.

2. What Drift is NOT

Drift is not therapy, counselling, medical care, or psychological treatment. The reports generated by Drift are reflections produced by an AI model — they are not professional advice. Do not rely on Drift for medical, psychiatric, or psychological decisions. If you are in crisis, contact a qualified mental health professional or a crisis line in your country.

3. Your account and data

The free tier does not require an account. Everything is stored in your browser. You are responsible for backing up your sessions if you want them preserved (use the Export feature).

When paid features launch, you'll create an account with an email and password (or social sign-in). You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.

4. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to use Drift to:

  • Violate any law or third-party right
  • Analyse content belonging to another person without their consent
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the service in bulk
  • Use Drift as a free proxy to access the Claude API for unrelated purposes
  • Attempt to bypass usage limits, abuse free credits, or use multiple accounts to evade limits
  • Submit content that is illegal, harassing, or harmful to others

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms.

5. Your content

You retain full ownership of everything you upload to or create in Drift. By using the service, you grant us a limited, technical license to process your content through Anthropic's API so we can generate your report. We do not claim ownership of your writing, your interview answers, or your reports.

6. Our service

The free tier is provided as-is, with no guarantees of uptime or availability. We make reasonable efforts to keep beliefdrift.com running but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.

Paid features will come with the service-level commitments we'll publish when they launch.

7. API costs

The free trial is provided at no cost to you; we cover the API charges on our end, subject to per-IP rate limits and the rolling 48-hour session cap. When you bring your own Anthropic or Google API key, all costs of API usage are billed to you directly by the respective provider. We have no control over and no responsibility for those charges.

8. Disclaimers

Drift is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. We make no representations about:

  • The accuracy or insightfulness of any drift report
  • Whether the analysis will be helpful to you personally
  • Compatibility with your browser, device, or specific writing style

AI models can make mistakes, generate inaccurate statements about you, or surface findings that don't apply. Use your judgment.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Drift and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service — including but not limited to emotional distress, lost data, or decisions made based on AI-generated content. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which may be zero).

10. Termination

You can stop using Drift at any time. We can terminate or suspend access for violations of these terms. If you stop using the free tier, your data remains in your browser until you clear it.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be highlighted on the landing page and the "Last updated" date will reflect the change. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction of the operator. Disputes will be handled through reasonable means before resorting to courts.
